Craig Ayling

Craig began working in the financial services industry in 1985, moving into financial planning in 1994, with the State Bank of NSW. He then joined Purkiss Partners in 1999 which merged with three other Central Coast public accounting, tax, audit and wealth management businesses in 2006 to become Fortunity.

Craig is a Certified Financial Planner and specialises in long-term wealth creation and protection, retirement planning, aged care, estate planning, business insurance and self-managed superannuation. He manages many of Fortunity’s small business and SMSF clients and is dedicated to helping clients preserve and build lasting wealth and financial security.

Paul Bolton

BCom, CA, MBA, DipTax, CTA

Paul has been a Chartered Accountant in public practice for over 30 years, including in excess of 20 years at the Partner/Director level. Paul’s experience includes 8 years with one of the ‘Big 6’ Accounting firms in Australia and overseas. Like Craig, Paul also worked for Purkiss Partners prior to the 2006 merger which resulted in the creation of Fortunity. He specialises in business valuations, taxation law, business planning and audit with a focus on the not-for-profit, medical, construction, legal and professional sports sectors. Paul is a former Board Member of Lakes Grammar School, having served in this capacity for 11 years. In addition, Paul is an Independent Director of The Art House, a performing arts centre owned by the Central Coast Council and Director of Finance for Surf Life Saving NSW.

Patricia Cotterell

BCom, CA, MBA

With over 20 years’ experience in accounting and finance, Tricia is motivated by a desire to help businesses grow, fulfil their potentials and achieve their goals based on solid financial and business advice. She specialises in general accounting, small business advisory and taxation law, particularly for the childcare, medical, construction and primary production industries.

Tricia heads up our ‘Fortunity in the Community’ committee, our own charitable group which supports local and national charities such as Coast Shelter and the Australian Red Cross.

Tricia has been appointed to the board of peak independent school body, the Association of Independent Schools (AIS) NSW as a Director. She is also the Treasurer for Central Coast Grammar School which she joined in 2017.

Adrian Thompson

B. Com, CA, RCA

Being a lifelong resident of the Central Coast, Adrian is an active member of the community with long associations with Surf Life Saving and Central Coast Rugby Union.
Adrian started his career at a small local practice in 1999 and became a Chartered Accountant in 2005. Adrian went on to work with three large Chartered Accounting practices in Sydney, and became a Senior Audit Manager with BDO, Australia’s sixth largest accounting firm.
After 15 years of commuting to Sydney and in excess of 20 years’ experience working in chartered accounting, Adrian joined Fortunity’s Audit Team in February 2019 and appointed Audit Partner in January 2020.
Adrian’s experience is across a wide range of industries including education, financial services, healthcare, community services, government, members’ services, publishing, religious, manufacturing & construction, retail superannuation and hospitality. His clients have included both publicly listed and large private companies, together with high profile not-for-profit organisations and recognisable government bodies.

John Staunton

BFinAdmin, CA

Having commenced at Fortunity in 2006 as Senior Associate, John assists small and medium businesses, particularly those in the manufacturing and construction industries, to meet their required tax obligations. He also develops tax minimisation and business strategies to help clients enhance their operations, grow their businesses and achieve their goals.

Prior to joining Fortunity, John worked as Divisional Accountant for Beyond International Ltd. and HLB Mann Judd in Sydney as their Manager of Business Services.

Shaun O’Farrell

CFP, ADFS

Shaun joined Fortunity as a Financial Planner/Director in 2012 following his previous role with Financial Success Australia as Senior Financial Advisor. He has more than 20 years’ experience in the industry and is a key member of Fortunity’s Financial Planning team, specialising in retirees, SMSFs, small business owners, business insurance, estate planning and aged care.

Shaun is a Certified Financial Planner and holds a Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Financial Services.
