Director Roles and Responsibilities proves a popular topic for Central Coast Not-for-profits

On Tuesday last week the second Central Coast Not-for-profit Forum was held at Breakers Country Club at Wamberal. The special guest speaker was Phil Butler, Not-for-Profit Sector Leader for the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

The topic of this forum was Director Roles and Responsibilities, which proved to be very popular amongst the Central Coast Not-for-profit community, as attendance was close to 100 people.

Phil shared ways on how Not-for-profit directors can achieve their prospective missions. He explained that this is achieved through understanding fundamental compliance and performance related roles and responsibilities as a board director. The keys areas Phil focused on included governance, risk, financial performance and strategy.

Phil also shared with the audience an interesting video link by Dan Pallotta which outlines the importance of charities being able to rethink the ways in which they measure their success. Click here to view this video.

Feedback confirmed the relevance of this topic and the need for more information with the audience being highly engaged and asking a lot of questions. There was also very strong interest in the follow up workshops being held at Fortunity to gain further insight and mitigate some immediate concerns.

We are very grateful to Phil Butler and for sharing his expertise and it was a privilege to have yet another out of town industry expert travel from Canberra, giving up time to the Not-for-profit sector of our region.
